Wayne State University Director of Athletics Rob Fournier announced today the resignation of fourth-year Warrior head volleyball coach Ernie Gilbert.

"Ernie has done a commendable job rebuilding our volleyball program and has effectively positioned this team for success," noted Fournier. "He has expanded our recruiting base, taken an active leadership role in our community outreach (WIN - Warriors in the Neighborhood) and most importantly, positively influenced the lives of some special young people. I wish him the best."

The Gilbert family is moving to Oxford, Ohio, as Ernie's wife Jennie has been selected as the Senior Woman Administrator at Miami University.

A national search for Gilbert's successor will begin immediately.
