WSU took all three doubles matches and never looked back. Freshmen Sharon Gill (Windsor, Ont./Academie Ste. Cecile) and Milena Vuksanovic (Pancevo, Serbia/Uros Predic Secondary School) upended Jillian Hurley and Camille Gebert, 8-2, at the No. 1 position while the No. 2 tandem of sophomore Meghan Luzod (Royal Oak, Mich./Dondero) and junior Sargam Bhatt (Canton, Mich.-Taylor Truman) took out Jessica Camp and Jessica Kosinski 8-2. The freshman squad of Jennifer Bradford (Detroit, Mich./Mumford) and Deby Correa (Belo Horizonte, Brazil/Colegio Padre Eustaquio) held off Mary Therese Lee and Franca Peluso 8-6 at the No. 3 slot.
The Warriors closed out the match with three singles victories as Gill won in straight sets, 6-2, 6-1 over Gebert at No. 1, Luzod dispatched Betsy Reed, 6-0, 6-1, at the No. 3 slot and junior Ashley Hooper (Orangeville, Ontario/Orangeville District Secondary School) downed Mary Therese Lee, 6-3, 6-1 at No. 6. The remaining two singles matches were cancelled due to weather conditions.
WSU continues its spring break Florida road trip with a non-conference dual match against St. Cloud State on Saturday, March 8.
