Evansville, Ind. - Wayne State University junior pitcher Molly Yetman (Cambridge, Ont.) and Gannon University junior shortstop Jaclyn Corroto (Boardman, Ohio) have been named the Daktronics, Inc. Great Lakes Region Pitcher and Player of the Year, respectively, for softball in a vote by the region's sports information directors.
The two headline the inaugural first and second team All-Great Lakes Region selections, which include players from the Great Lakes Valley Conference, the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference, and the West Virginia Intercollegiate Athletic Conference.
Yetman posted a nation-leading 0.42 earned-run average and a 22-3 record in 2007 en route to earning the GLIAC's Player of the Year honors. Yetman, who posted three no-hitters including a perfect game against Ashland University this season, allowed just 10 earned runs all year while posting 263 strikeouts. Wayne State is 39-15 overall, 15-5 in the GLIAC, and is the fifth seed in the upcoming NCAA II Great Lakes Region Tournament, which is being hosted by Lewis University in Romeoville, Ill.
All members of the first team move onto the ballot for All-America voting.
