Tiffin, Ohio - The Wayne State University softball team (21-10) dropped a 3-2 non-league decision at Tiffin University (18-9) in the second game of Tuesday's twinbill.

WSU tied the game at one in the top of the second as Robyn Haig had a leadoff single and moved to second on a one-out single by Sarah Teller. A Lisa Seymour single loaded the bases with Haig scoring on a Jaci Banton grounder.

The Warriors went ahead the next inning as Sarah Berry had a leadoff single and was sacrificed to second by Meredith Boxberger. A Haig single scored Berry.

The Dragons knotted the game at two on a third inning leadoff home run by Kenzie Kitchen.

TU scored the winning run in the bottom of the sixth. Lauren Williams had a leadoff single and was sacrificed to second. On a single by Jessica Ramirez, Williams was thrown out at the plate, but Ramirez scored on a single by Keshia Johnson.

WSU had runners at second and third with one out in the top of the seventh but the next two batters were retired.

Sophomore Nicole Abel went the distance for WSU allowing three runs on eight hits in six innings with five strikeouts.

Berry and Haig each had two hits for the Warriors, who stranded nine base runners.

Wayne State will play eight home league games in the next five days starting with make-up doubleheaders on Wednesday (Northwood) and Thursday (Saginaw Valley). Action both days at the WSU Softball Stadium begins at 4 p.m.
