Final Stats

Ashland, Ohio - The Wayne State University softball team (15-9 overall, 3-0 GLIAC) recorded its seventh consecutive victory with a 6-0 triumph at Ashland University (9-8 overall, 1-2) Sunday afternoon in the first game of a GLIAC twinbill.

The start of the GLIAC doubleheader was pushed ahead one hour due to the threat of wet weather.

The early start did not hamper WSU senior pitcher Molly Yetman as she was one batter away from a perfect game against the Eagles. On April 27, 2007, Yetman did throw a perfect game vs. AU in Detroit.

The only AU base runner was Jessica Cantrell, who reached on an error to start the third inning. Yetman got a foul out and back-to-back strikeouts to end the frame. In fact, only two AU batters were able to get the ball out of the infield off Yetman.

The Warrior offense had a pair of three run innings.

In the top of the second, Robyn Haig had a leadoff walk and Stephanie LeClair followed with an RBI triple, her team-leading third three-bagger of the campaign. On ball four to Sarah Teller, LeClair was able to score on the wild pitch. Lisa Seymour's sacrifice bunt advanced Teller to second and Teller scored all the way from second base on a sacrifice fly by Jaci Banton.

In the fifth inning, Banton had a one-out single and moved to third on a double by Lindsey Perry. Banton scored on a fielder's choice error and Meredith Boxberger capped the scoring with a two-run double to left.

Notes:

The no-hitter was the fifth in Yetman's two-year career at Wayne State (and second of the season). She has won seven consecutive decisions since a 2-1 setback at Florida Southern.

Perry and Sarah Berry each had two hits for WSU.
