Women's Fencing Goes Unbeaten At UDM Duals

DETROIT - The Wayne State University women's fencing squad compiled a 3-0 record yesterday at the University of Detroit Mercy Duals.

The Warriors began the day with a 17-10 victory over Michigan. Both Anna Garina and Justyna Konczalska went 3-0 versus the Wolverines, while Alyse Schneider won twice in the epee. Lindsey Howard won all three of her foil bouts, while Kasia Kuzniak and Ann Bartoszewicz each won twice in the sabre.

WSU recorded a 19-8 triumph over Michigan State in round two. Bartoszewicz, Kuzniak and Alicia Chmielewski each went 3-0 in the sabre giving the Warriors a 9-0 lead. Howard compiled a 3-0 mark in the foil, while both Garina and Konczalska were unbeaten in the epee.

Wayne State concluded the duals meet with a 23-4 win over Detroit Mercy. The Warriors went 8-1 in both the epee and sabre. Bartoszewicz and Kuzniak each went 3-0 in the sabre. Garina and Konczalska each went 2-0 in the epee as UDM only had two epeeists and one foilist.
