DETROIT - The Wayne State University women's basketball team (5-5 overall) ended its three-game losing streak with a 132-13 triumph over Temple Baptist College Saturday afternoon in Detroit.

The undermanned Runnin' Rams squad dressed only five players and committed 54 turnovers which led to 92 points for WSU off TBC miscues and 52 fast break points.

The Warriors tallied the first 38 points of the game in the first 9:04 of the game. TBC's Ansley Davenport made a three-point shot with 10:28 remaining in the first half getting the Rams on the scoreboard. WSU scored the next 33 points until Bea Mason made two foul shots with 1:38 left before intermission. Mason then added a triple with less than a minute to go in the opening half. The first half ended with WSU leading 76-8.

Wayne State recorded 52 points in the paint, 54 points off turnovers and 32 fast break points in the first 20 minutes. The Warriors made 33 of 49 field goal attempts (67.3 percent) including seven of 10 from beyond the arc. WSU's starters played the first 8:42 of the game before being subbed at all five positions.

TBC had 29 turnovers in the first half and made 2-of-11 from the floor.

Sherrice Fox scored for the Rams at the 14:07 mark of the second half after the Warriors had scored 24 consecutive points to reach the century mark.

Eight of the 10 WSU players that saw playing time scored in double figures led by Jasmine McCall's (Detroit, Mich./CMA) 23 points. She also had eight assists and six steals. Brooke Bowers (Delphos, Ohio/Jefferson) had 18 points, eight assists and eight steals, with Joy Nash (Muskegon, Mich.) contributing eight assists and 15 points.

The Warriors had just two turnovers in the game and outrebounded the Rams 36-18. Both Monique George (Detroit, Mich./Cass Tech) and Chastidy Miller (White Lake, Mich./Waterford Kettering) had a game-high seven boards.

Wayne State resumes conference play on Thursday, Jan. 3 with a 5:30 p.m. tip-off at the University of Findlay.

Notes:

WSU missed the NCAA Division II all-time winning margin by three points with its 119 point triumph. West Texas A&M defeated National Christian 155-33 on Nov. 29, 2001, for a 122 point victory.

The Warriors 58 field goals made were four shy of the NCAA mark of 62 set by Norfolk State on Nov. 20, 1990, against Fayetteville State.

Wayne State recorded the second most assists ever in a game with 41; Lynn University had 42 on Nov. 29, 1996, versus Virgin Islands.

WSU's 76 first half points were the fifth most points ever in a half in an NCAA Division II women's basketball contest.

The Warriors recorded 35 steals, which is tied-for-third most in an NCAA Division II game.

Wayne State's previous record for points in a game was 110 versus Rochester College on Dec. 18, 1998.

The 132 points in a game is tied-for-12th highest in NCAA Division II history.
