Findlay, Ohio - The Wayne State University women's basketball squad (6-10 overall, 4-2 GLIAC) led from start to finish in recording an 80-68 road victory at the University of Findlay (4-14 overall, 0-8 GLIAC) Saturday afternoon.

The game was tied at two after a jumper by WSU senior Cherita Smith (Grand Rapids, Mich./Union) and a lay-up by Oiler Katie Greisiger, before the Warriors went on a 7-0 run as Smith's triple was sandwiched by buckets from sophomore Chastidy Miller (White Lake, Mich./Waterford Kettering) and junior Nicole Rogers (Lansing, Mich./Everett).

After Greisiger split a pair from the foul line, Wayne State scored 11 of the next 15 points for a 20-7 advantage. The guests had their biggest lead of the half, 32-16, with 7:52 remaining following a lay-up by junior Bethany Jury (Plymouth, Mich./Livonia Ladywood).

WSU held a 22-16 lead on the boards after 20 minutes including 14 offensive rebounds which lead to the Warriors having 13 more field goal attempts in the first half. Smith led Wayne State with 12 first half points while Rogers added 11.

The lead grew to 18 twice in the second half at 47-29 and 52-34.

The Oilers responded with a 8-0 run cutting the Warrior lead to 10 at 52-42 with 15:13 left. With lead down to eight at 56-48, WSU went on a 10-0 run which started with a jumper by sophomore Joy Nash (Muskegon, Mich.). After two free throws by Miller, Smith had a fast break lay-up followed by four consecutive foul shots by Miller.

Rogers and Smith tied for game-high honors with 17 points apiece, while Miller added 14 points. Rogers had a double-double as she grabbed 10 rebounds, while Nash contributed eight assists, seven points and six rebounds.

Wayne State has two home games this week - Thursday versus Michigan Tech and Saturday against Northern Michigan..

The Warriors are now 4-0 when scoring more than 80 points.

WSU improves to 4-3 at Findlay under head coach Gloria Bradley.

Chastidy Miller made 10 free throws, a WSU high for this year, and one shy of Miller's career best 11 set on Jan. 14, 2006, vs. Findlay.

Twenty of WSU's 42 rebounds came on the offensive end, the third highest offensive rebound total for a game this season. The 17 assists were the third best mark this year, while the 28 field goals made tied for the second highest total this season.
