Wayne State University head cross country coach Rick Cummins has announced the selections of captains for the 2008 season.
Senior All-American Rachelle Malette (Windsor, Ont./Holy Names) will serve as the women's team captain, while senior Abdullah Saleh (Dearborn, Mich./Fordson) will captain the men's cross country squad.
Malette, one of six returnees, is a two-time All-American after placing fifth at the 2007 NCAA Division II Cross Country Championship, the best finish ever by a WSU women's cross country runner. She was also named to the 2007-08 CoSIDA Academic All-District IV Women's Track/Cross Country First Team for the College Division.
Saleh (pictured left) earned First Team All-GLIAC honors in 2007 after placing third at the conference meet. He earned All-Region accolades after finishing sixth at the NCAA Great Lakes Regional meet. Saleh competed in all eight races in 2007 recording five top-four finishes.
