Two Cross Country Runners Earn National All-Academic Accolades

Two members of the Wayne State University men's cross country team were named to the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association All-Academic Cross Country teams.

To qualify for individual all-academic honors, the student-athlete must have completed 24 semester or 36 quarter hours and have a cumulative grade-point average of 3.25 on a 4.0 scale. The student-athlete must also finish in the top 30 percent of individual participants at their respective regional cross country championships.

Senior Dave Lucas (Dearborn, Mich./Detroit Catholic Central) finished 25th at the 2008 NCAA Great Lakes Regional, his second-best performance at the regionals in his career. He has also been on the honor roll all seven semesters including four times above a 3.5 term gpa.

Senior Kevin Christensen (Battle Creek, Mich./Pennfield) placed 11th at the 2008 NCAA Regional, his third top-15 regional finish in his career. He has also been on the honor roll six semesters including five times above a 3.5 term gpa.
