COLUMBIA, Mo. - After two days of competition at the 2008 NCAA Championships, hosted by the University of Missouri S&T, the Wayne State men's swimming and diving team remains in seventh place with 116 points.
The 200 freestyle relay of Tim Giblin (Midland, Mich./Midland Dow), Per Bergstrom (Fagersta, Sweden), Alex Davidson (Napoleon, Mich./Jackson), and Cauli Bedran (Rio de Janiero, Brazil) finished 11th in a time of 1:23.23, edging the new school record set by the Warriors in the preliminary round by .03 seconds.
A.J. Erard (Troy, Mich./Royal Oak Shrine) came in 15th in the 400 individual medley (4:08.73), and Sean Smith (Auburn, Mich./Bay City Western) placed 10th in the 100 butterfly (50.03).
In the 200 freestyle, Sebastian Rzepa (Clinton Twp., Mich./Chippewa Valley) finished 10th (1:40.14).
Cayce Bolt (Sterling Hts., Mich./Warren Mott) placed fifth in the one-meter diving competition (437.60), and the 400 medley relay of Bedran, Christer Tour (Farsta, Sweden), Smith, and Bergstrom came in fourth place (3:21.62).
