COLUMBIA, Mo. - Despite competing in just two events at the NCAA Championships on Wednesday night, the Wayne State swimming and diving team is in seventh place through the first day of competition at the Mizzou Aquatic Center.

The evening was highlighted by Wayne State's victory in the 200 medley relay, which posted a time of 1:30.49 and edged second-place Ouachita by .03 seconds.

Cauli Bedran (Rio de Janeiro, Brazil), after breaking the school record in the preliminary 50 free (20.79), did it again in the final round, posting a 13th-place time of 20.67.

Bedran also led off the first-place relay with Christer Tour (Farsta, Sweden), Alex Davidson (Napoleon, Mich./Jackson), and Tim Giblin (Midland, Mich./Midland Dow).

Thursday morning's preliminary round will begin with the 200 free relay at 10:30 a.m. ET, and fans can follow the results live.
