SOUTH HAVEN, Mich. - The Wayne State University golf team finished in a tie for seventh place at the first Great Lakes Regional event of the season this past weekend at HawksHead.

The Warriors shot 286 on Sunday and 296 on Monday for a combined 582, matching Saginaw Valley State's total. Indianapolis won the regional (279-271--550) and finished 24 strokes ahead of second-place Ferris State (284-290--574).

Michael Wouters (Sterling Hts., Mich./Henry Ford II) led Wayne State with a score of 143 (71-72), placing him in a tie for 12th. Joe Juszczyk (Dearborn Heights, Mich./Divine Child), who had a team-high nine birdies on the weekend, tied for 17th with 144 (69-75). Steve Cuzzort (Grosse Ile, Mich.) was a stroke back in a tie for 19th (72-73--145).

Chad Johnson (Plymouth, Mich./Canton) tied for 51st (74-76--150), and Hagan Risner (Garden City, Mich.) shot 155 (79-76) to tie for 79th.

Wayne State will play in the Grand Valley State Invitational at Meadows Golf Course in Allendale beginning Saturday.
