FINDLAY, Ohio - After posting a second-round score of 289 on Tuesday, the Wayne State men's golf team moved up to second place at the NCAA Division II Super Regional, held at Red Hawk Run Golf Club.
The Warriors, who were in fifth place after carding a team score of 301 in Monday's opening round, are just three strokes behind leader Grand Valley State (300-287--587). Ferris State (300-294--594) is in third, followed by Northern Kentucky (301-294--595) in fourth.
Redshirt sophomore Joe Juszczyk (Dearborn Heights, Mich./Divine Child) continues to lead the field of 45 golfers, matching his first round score of 68 for a combined total of 136, eight under par. He holds a five-stroke lead over NKU's Danny Lewis (141, -3), who along with Chris Robertson (143, -1) from Ashland are the only players under par through two rounds.
All four of WSU's other participants improved upon their scores from a day ago. Ryan Johnson (New Boston, Mich./Huron) moved up to a tie for 12th place (77-70--147), while Eric Johnson (Marquette, Mich.) is in a tie for 24th (78-75--153). Brett Hudson (Bloomfield Hills, Mich./Orchard Lake St. Mary's) has a two-day score of 154 (78-76) to tie for 28th, and Bryan Lynch (White Lake, Mich./Lakeland) is tied for 43rd (84-81--165).
