Sept. 13, 2008
With two minutes left in the game, the Wayne State Warriors continue efforts to defend their lead. The rain is subtle, but still effecting game play. With 39 seconds left on the clock, WSU punts the ball from the 40-yard line, a catch is made, but the Greyhounds struggle to advance. With time quickly running out, the Greyhounds are forced to spike the ball in order to stop the clock. An interception was made by No. 91 Matt Shango who sealed the win for your Wayne State Warriors. Your final score is Wayne State University 6, University of Indianapolis 0.
It's 1:45 and the start of the fourth quarter. The sky is a lighter shade of gray and the hard rain has turned into a drizzle. Your Warriors are just shy of the 50-yard-line. Graham continues his offensive efforts, but is taken down at the Indy 49. A pass is completed just inside the sideline to No. 86 Ed Sanders is good enough for a first down. The Warriors continue to inch their way down the field in hopes of grabbing another first down with 11:10 left on the clock. After an important 3rd down attempt, the Warriors fail to take it all the way. No. 14 David Chudzinski goes for a 47-yard field goal but it falls just short of the uprights. The Greyhounds take over position at the 29 while your Warriors hope to maintain the solid defensive pressure they've shown all day.
The score remains 6-0 Warriors with five minutes left in the third quarter. Both teams are struggling to get anywhere. Today's weather has cause problems for both teams on the offensive end. The ball is slippery and the field slick, but your Warriors continue to put pressure on the Greyhounds.
It's 1:15 p.m. and we are getting ready to start the second half. The Warriors begin to warm up while captains meet in the center of the field. The water puddles are starting to link together and the sky has turned a dark gray. From the press box, it looks like the entire field could be covered before the end of today's game.
Despite a strong offensive by quarterback No. 8 Kevin Smith and running back No. 1 Daryl Graham in the second quarter, they end two yards short of a touch down. Both teams have relied very little on their special teams due to the extreme wet conditions. Graham and his Warrior teammates continue to trench through water trying to extend their 6-0 lead over the Greyhounds. At the end of the first half, the rain continues to poor as players head back to the locker room. Gray clouds stretch across the skyline. It looks likes these two teems will continue to slip-and-slide throughout the entire second half.
The down poor wont let up, but fans continue to cheer as the Warriors show strong efforts on the defensive end. After a blocked punt by No. 21 Dante Dunn, No. 41 Nick Thomas recovered the ball in the Indianapolis end zone. Following a failed 2-point conversion, The Warriors lead 6-0.
Rain clouds cover Adam's field as the Wayne State University Warriors get ready to take on the University of Indianapolis Greyhounds. Dedicated spectators begin to fill the stands as The Contours prepare to sing the National Anthem. Fans are accompanied by rain ponchos and umbrellas as Mother Nature shows little sign of stopping her down pour. Regardless of the weather and puddle-filled fields, both teams start to march on to the field for the third game of this 2008 season. Captains met on the giant yellow W to decide that Indianapolis will kick off to your Warriors own Donte Dunn. Dunn leads the NCAA in kick return average so far this season. of Indianapolis Greyhounds
