Wayne State University senior forward Wynn Sarden (Sterling Hts., Mich./Warren Cousino) has been selected GLIAC South Division Player of the Week.
He averaged 28 points and seven rebounds as the Warriors went 1-1 and ended their 11-game losing streak with a Saturday victory over Hillsdale. Sarden shot 63 percent from the floor for the week.
He took game-high scoring honors in both contests. Sarden scored a game-high 27 points in the win over the Chargers. He had 14 points in 18 minutes in the first half then added 13 points and four rebounds in the second half while playing all but the final nine seconds on the half.
In the Feb. 21 setback at Ashland, Sarden had 29 points, eight rebounds and two assists while playing all 40 minutes.
He finished the season leading the Warriors in field goal attempts (311), field goals made (152), free throws attempted (134), free throws made (89), points (399), scoring average (16.6), rebounds (198), steals (46), blocked shots (9) and defensive rebounds (134).
