Bowling Green, Ohio - The Wayne State University men's basketball team played its lone exhibition contest of the 2007 season on Thursday evening at Bowling Green State University, the alma mater of WSU head coach David Greer.

The Warriors had two early leads (2-1 on a layup by Jason Saddler (Detroit, Mich./Cody) off a pass by Lorenzo McClelland (Oak Park, Mich.) and again at 4-3 on a Saddler layup with Wynn Sarden (Sterling Heights, Mich./Warren Cousino) earning an assist.

The Falcons then built a five-point lead (9-4) before a layup by Sarden and a fastbreak layup by Saddler preceded a jumper by BGSU's Brian Moten. Sarden then answered with a triple off a feed from Lendyn Davis (Lansing, Mich./Sexton) to knot the game at 11.

Bowling Green scored 10 consecutive points for a 21-11 advantage before Saddler split a pair from the charity stripe. Davis and McClelland hit back-to-back jumpers pulling the Warriors within five at 21-16.

WSU was within five (25-20) followed a Saddler put-back basket. BGSU outscored the Warriors 3-1 over the final 4:11 of the opening half making it a 28-21 lead at intermission.

Sarden scored on a fastbreak layup early in the second half cutting the deficit to five, but Bowling Green went on a 13-2 run over the next 7:30 as Wayne State committed five turnovers and missed 10 straight field goal attempts before Davis made a jumper at the 11:38 mark.

The Warriors were able to get within 11 at 53-42 following two made foul shots by Sarden with 3:21 left, but BGSU scored the next four points before Tim Giles (Southfield, Mich./Southfield-Lathrup) hit a jumper in the final minute.

Sarden had 12 points, while Saddler and Davis each had 11 points. Davis and Emanuel Carter (Detroit, Mich./Kettering) both grabbed seven boards as WSU was outrebounded 50-38 against the much-taller Falcons.

WSU shot 29.6 percent (16-54) from the floor including four-of-14 from beyond the arc. In addition, the Warriors were just eight-of-21 from the foul line. Bowling Green made 25 of 61 field goal attempts (41.0 percent) and only seven of 18 (38.9 percent) from the charity stripe.
