E.J. Haralson completed his fifth season in March of 2008 as an assistant men's basketball coach at Wayne State. He joined the Warriors' men's basketball program in October 2003.
Haralson was the head coach at Detroit Finney High School the previous two seasons helping FHS to its first Public School League championship.
He began his collegiate playing career at Mott Community College from 1994-96, where he was a National Junior College All-American. After MCC, Haralson moved on to Detroit Mercy from 1996-98. He was named the team's top newcomer in 1997 and served as a team co-captain during the 1997-98 season.
The Detroit Finney High School graduate returned to his alma mater in 1998 to begin his coaching career. Haralson was the assistant coach at Finney for three seasons before being promoted to head coach in 2001. In his first season, Haralson was selected as Detroit Public School League Coach of the Year, and was awarded the FHS Outstanding Achievement Award in 2002-03.
Haralson earned his bachelor of science in computer information systems from the University of Detroit and taught at Allen Academy for three years and Finney for one.
Haralson is married to Tonya (Smoot), a former basketball player at Miami University. E.J. has one son, E.J. LeJuan, who will be 10 on October 24.
