DETROIT - Wayne State University junior pitcher Anthony Bass (Trenton, Mich.) was named to the Rawlings/American Baseball Coaches Association All-America First Team, as announced by the ABCA All-America committee in conjunction with the NCAA Division II Championship, which is being played this week in Sauget, Ill.

Bass joins Adam Kaminski (Clinton Twp., Mich./Mt. Clemens), who was a Daktronics, Inc. All-America Honorable Mention selection, as the first WSU baseball players to receive All-America recognition since Kenneth Hasshaw and Kevin Ponticelli in 1978.

Bass leads the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference and ranks 15th in the nation in wins (10) and strikeouts (100). He also tops the conference with a 2.10 earned run average and .209 opposing batting average.

The All-America accolade caps off an award-heavy season for Bass, who was chosen as the Rawlings/ABCA All-Region Pitcher of the Year and GLIAC Pitcher of the Year. He was also selected to the Daktronics, Inc. All-Region First Team.
