Dion Jones enters his ninth year as an equipment manager in the Wayne State University athletic department.

Previous to his career in WSU's athletic department, Jones was in the United States Coast Guard from 1981-85.

He worked for Yerkes Regional Primate Research Center from 1993-97 as a primate care technician, followed by four years (1994-98) as an attendant at the Run n' Shoot Athletic Center in Atlanta.

His parents are Daniel and Ernestine Jones and they reside in Detroit.
